On the 11th March 2020, we acknowledge one of the most important days on the health calendar - No Smoking Day. This awareness campaign encourages smokers to quit using cigarettes, to raise awareness of the health risks of smoking and to celebrate those who have kicked the habit in the past.
For many, No Smoking Day also offers a great opportunity to, quite literally, stop smoking for one day and to also take stock of how this habit affects your health and others around you. It serves as a hopeful reminder that quitting is a genuine possibility for the 1 million smokers in the UAE and raises public awareness of what we can do to help us reach that goal.
The campaign began in 1984 when only as few thousand people decided to take on the big tobacco companies and spread the message that smoking was a danger to public health. In the years since, No Smoking Day has grown to become one of the most significant days on the health and wellbeing calendar for individuals and organisations alike. Backed by the British Heart Foundation and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), we continue to encourage smokers to go smoke-free - even one day can make all the difference.
Tobacco use is one of the leading causes of preventable disease and death in the UAE, accounting for nearly 3000 deaths each year. One in two smokers will die from a smoking-related disease.
Vaping is widely recognised by academics and everyday users as a viable alternative to smoking. E-cigarettes are far safer than smoking traditional cigarettes and they do not cause harm to others around you. At My Vapery, we have developed a hugely successful range of Nicotine Salt e-liquids that are proven to help with smoking cessation. We stock responsible vaping brands like Podsalt and Doozy Salts that offer premium quality e-liquids specifically designed to help you on your journey.
According to Cancer Research UK, people who combine alternatives to smoking and specialist support when they quit are a staggering 225% more successful. The Dubai Health Authority recommends integrating specialist advice and support with a gradual switch to vaping.
It’s never too late to stop smoking, no matter how long you’ve been doing it for. In fact, you may be surprised to hear that your body will start to recover within the first day of being smoke-free!
